Earn 2 miles per dollar on eligible United purchases beyond airfare, including seat upgrades, Economy Plus, inflight food and beverages, Wi-Fi, and baggage fees. Pay with your card at checkout or onboard to earn at this rate.

Earn 1 mile per dollar on every purchase that doesn't qualify for a higher earning rate. There's no cap on the miles you can earn this way.

Your MileagePlus miles have no expiration date, so you can accumulate and redeem them at any point without worrying about a use-by deadline.

Covers theft and collision damage on most rental cars when you decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the full rental to your card. In the U.S., coverage is secondary to your personal auto insurance; it may be primary when renting abroad.

Get reimbursed for pre-paid, non-refundable travel fares if your trip is canceled or cut short by a covered reason such as sickness or severe weather. Charge your travel to the card to activate coverage. Limits are $1,500 per covered traveler and $6,000 per trip.

New purchases charged to your card are covered against damage or theft for 120 days from the date of purchase. Coverage is capped at $500 per item.

Adds one extra year to a manufacturer's U.S. warranty on eligible items you buy with your card. Only warranties of three years or less qualify, and coverage extends up to four years from the purchase date.

The United Gateway Card has no annual fee, so you keep all the miles you earn without an annual cost to offset.
